Three Directors’ terms ended at the AGM. Gail Hudson (AREINZ) stepped down as Regional Director for Region 5, having completed the maximum term as a Director on the REINZ Board. Malcolm Morris’s (AREINZ) term as Regional Director for Region 3 also ended. Angela Bull stepped down as Independent Director after serving on the Board for five years.

With these great leaders at the helm, I have no doubt that they will steer REINZ and its members to greater heights. I would also like to congratulate and welcome our new Life and FREINZ Members.”

About REINZ

REINZ is a membership organisation supporting over 17,000 real estate professionals across New Zealand, working in all areas of real estate – residential and rural sales, auctioneers, business brokers, commercial and industrial sales, leasing and residential property managers.

About the AGM

REINZ’s AGM is an opportunity for Members to meet (either online or in person), discuss what happened at REINZ during the past year, and discuss plans for the future. The AGM covers a range of important topics, such as the outcome of any elections for Regional Directors, the appointment of any new Independent Directors, and voting at the meeting for new REINZ Life Members.

Regional Directors
The two-year term for Regions 1, 3 and 5 came to an end this year. Applications were invited from professionals in those regions and a vote was held electronically for eligible members.

Treena Drinnan was the incumbent Regional Director for Region 1 and put herself up for re-election. There were no challengers, so she was deemed elected. Based in Auckland, Treena has over 28 years of experience in management, marketing, administration, and franchising of real estate. She is a licensed agent and has held senior management roles for various Australasian real estate franchises. Treena is currently the Chief Agency Officer at Ray White and sits on the corporate leadership team, providing strategic direction.
Andy Stewart was voted the Regional Director for Region 3. Hailing from Palmerston North, Andy has served REINZ since 1992 as a committee member, deputy President, and Chair of the local Investigation sub-committee. He also served on the Real Estate ITO (Industry Training Organisation) Board. In 2009 he was elected to be the REINZ Ambassador for Palmerston North.
Gus Johnston was voted the Regional Director for Region 5. Born and brought up in Southland, Gus has been part of the real estate industry since 1988. He was president of the Southland Branch of the Real Estate Institute and a Co-Founder of Southland Real Estate, where he worked for 29 years. He still works at the company, which now trades as Bayleys SRE, on a semi-retired basis.

Independent and Appointed Directors

A designated appointment panel chose Nicola Riordan as the new Independent Director from several candidates. Nicola has over 15 years of experience – both in New Zealand and internationally – spanning technology, data, marketing, finance, real estate and governance. She has worked in companies such as OneRoof, Realestate.co.nz, Xero, and Skype.

Miriam Dean is the incumbent Deputy Chair / Independent Director. She was reappointed to the board by a designated appointment panel. Miriam is an experienced litigator, director and reviewer. Her current roles include Chair of the Banking Ombudsman Scheme, director of Rau Paenga Ltd (Crown Infrastructure Delivery Ltd) and Chorus Ltd and member of the Advisory Committee of the Government’s New Zealand Claims Resolution Service.

Jo-Anne Clifford is the incumbent appointed director. She was also reappointed by a designated appointment panel. Jo-Anne brings a wealth of experience across many facets of real estate. Her current roles include Chief Operations Officer of Harcourts New Zealand, Director of Mortgage Express Ltd and Astute Financial Management Ltd. Jo-Anne is also Chair of the Digital Transformation Sub-Committee and oversees the Auction Sector Group.
