Course Overview
Selling a unit title property, particularly an apartment, is not as simple as “lock-up and leave.” Ownership comes with important ongoing responsibilities — from body corporate fees and maintenance contributions to compliance with the Unit Titles Act 2010 and body corporate rules.
Created in collaboration with BCCG, this session helps real estate professionals understand – and confidently navigate – the complexities of selling unit title properties, particularly apartments, with clear guidance from industry experts.
What you'll learn?
Under the Real Estate Agents Act (Professional Conduct and Client Care) Rules 2012 (Code of Conduct), Rule 5.1 requires licensees to exercise skill, care, competence, and diligence at all times when carrying out real estate agency work. This obligation is particularly important when dealing with unit title properties, which come with unique features and responsibilities.
While many purchasers view unit title properties, especially apartments, as convenient “lock-up and leave” options, ownership under a unit title structure involves a number of ongoing commitments. These include body corporate fees, maintenance contributions, and compliance with the Unit Titles Act 2010 and body corporate rules.
This Q&A webinar will help licensees understand the key considerations when assisting a vendor with the sale of a unit title property, particularly apartments. It supports real estate licensees in meeting their obligations under the Code of Conduct and ensuring purchasers are well-informed.
