NZ Certificate in Real Estate (Salesperson) (Level 4) | September

Before registering for the course, please read all the course information below carefully. It includes important details about entry requirements, course expectations, assessments, technology requirements, and eligibility.

The New Zealand Certificate in Real Estate – Salesperson (Level 4), also known as the Salesperson Qualification, is delivered over 14 weeks. The first 7 weeks consist of face-to-face classroom learning with your trainer, followed by up to 7 weeks to complete your assessments. This qualification will equip you with the knowledge and skills to begin your career in real estate, helping clients buy and sell property.


Programme Schedule

This programme includes 7 weeks of face-to-face learning, followed by up to 7 additional weeks to complete your assessments.

Face-to-face classes run from Tuesday to Friday, 9.30 am–1.30 pm, during Weeks 1 to 7.

Entry Requirements

The entry requirements that apply to you depend on whether you are considered a domestic learner or an international learner in New Zealand.

All learners must have regular access to a computer and a reliable internet connection. All programme content and assessments are accessed online through THRIVE, REINZ’s learning management system.

New Zealand citizens, permanent resident visa holders and resident visa holders are considered domestic learners for this programme.

To enrol as an international learner, you must:

  • Be at least 18 years old;
  • Be living in New Zealand;
  • Hold a valid visa that allows you to study for the full programme;
  • Meet the English language requirements, and
  • Be able to study regularly and make steady progress with your assessments each week.

You must check that your visa conditions allow you to study for the full programme. If you are unsure, contact Immigration New Zealand or a licensed immigration adviser. REINZ cannot provide immigration advice.

English Language Requirements for International Learners

The course and all assessments are in English. You must be able to understand the course content, take part in learning activities, and complete your assessments in English.

When you enrol, you must provide one of the following:

  • An IELTS General or Academic result with an overall score of at least 5.5 and no band score below 5.0; or
  • An equivalent English language test result accepted under NZQA requirements; or
  • Evidence that you have completed tertiary study in English, where accepted by REINZ.

English language test results must be less than two years old when the programme starts. REINZ may ask you to provide more information about your English language ability before your enrolment is confirmed.

How to enrol

1. Register and pay online

Click Register now to secure your place and complete your payment.

2. Complete the enrolment form

After you register and pay, you will be directed to an online enrolment form. You must complete this form before your enrolment can be confirmed.

3. Provide certified identification

The documents you need to provide will depend on whether you are a domestic or international learner.

  • Domestic learners
    Provide a verified or certified copy of one of the following:
    • a New Zealand passport;
    • a New Zealand birth certificate; or
    • an overseas passport together with evidence of your New Zealand resident-class visa. 
  • International learners
    Provide certified copies of:
    • your overseas passport;
    • evidence of a valid visa that allows you to study for the full duration of the programme; and
    • evidence that you meet the English language requirements. 

A certified copy is a photocopy of your original document that has been checked and signed by an authorised person.

Your documents can be certified by:

  • A lawyer
  • A court official, such as a Court Registrar or Deputy Registrar
  • A Notary Public

Enrolment processing time

Please allow 10–15 business days for us to process your enrolment after we have received your completed enrolment form and all required documents.

Your enrolment is not confirmed until you receive confirmation from REINZ.


For licensing purposes

The NZQA qualification document must be read in conjunction with the Real Estate Agents (Licensing) Regulations 2009.
