REINZ National Real Estate Auctioneering Championships returns in 2024 with the competition moving to the Garden City, Christchurch. Hosted at the Chateau on the Park, the format of the championship is the same, with three divisions per below (see further below for full criteria of divisions).

REINZ National Real Estate Auctioneering Championships gives you an opportunity to stand out and showcase your skills at the highest level. The competition caters for all levels of expertise and experience and is open to auctioneers across all residential, industrial and commercial real estate sectors. Showcase your creativity, and skill in this annual competition.
We will be holding the Sunday night draw at the Bayleys office, 3 Deans Avenue, Riccarton, Christchurch. Join us from 6.00pm and start your journey to success.
Date: Sunday 7th – Tuesday 9th April 2024
Draw venue: Bayleys, 3 Deans Avenue, Riccarton, Christchurch
Competition venue: Chateau on the Park, 189 Deans Avenue, Riccarton, Christchurch
Format: (Timetable dependent on contestant numbers)
6.00pm Sunday 7 April – Draw, Bayleys Christchurch Office
9.00am - late Monday 8 April – Open and Premier Competition, Chateau on the Park
8.00am- 7.00pm Tuesday 9 April – Rising Star Competition and Open and Premier finals,
Chateau on the Park
7.00pm Tuesday 9 April – Awards, Chateau on the Park
Auctioneering Divisions
There are three competition levels:
Rising Star – a great platform for new auctioneers to strengthen their expertise and experience. This division is open to all Auctioneers who have called no more than 50 auctions and have entered this division no more than 4 times (this time can be the 4th & last time to enter).
Open – open to all Auctioneers – no criteria.
Premier - this division is limited to 12 auctioneers maximum. The judging team will identify those who are successful in competing in this division or who need to be moved to the Open Division.
The Premier Auctioneer of the Year title is one of the most prestigious and coveted Awards presented by the REINZ.
All competitors auction the same property in front of a live audience. The competition is open to auctioneers across residential, industrial and commercial real estate sectors. The winner and runner-up of the Premier division will represent New Zealand at the annual Australasian Real Estate Institutes' Auctioneering Championships in Hobart, Tasmania in May 2024.
Entry Criteria
• The contestant is a current financial member of REINZ
• The member is of good standing of the real estate profession.
• Agrees to abide by the Competition Rules (Rules) as stated or, additional rules imposed by the
relevant Committee of the contest prior to the commencement of the final sessions.
• The contestant has completed and lodged the appropriate entry nomination form by the due date.
